I created this site to document my filmmaking journey. My goal is to inspire others, particularly women, to tell your stories and get your films made. If I can do it, so can you.
I am working on two more shorts before I embark on making my feature film. I am lucky to have friends who have made their first and in some cases, second features. I will interview them and post the interviews here so we can both learn from their experiences.

My Bio
Lucy Rodriguez-Hanley grew up in uptown Manhattan. She received her B.A. from St. John’s University and moved to Los Angeles in 2003.
She learned the technical aspects of directing at UCLA Extension’s Entertainment Studies program. She currently studies acting and directing with Judith Weston.
Her 2nd film The Big Deal is currently screening at festivals. The film is based on a short story from the book How to Be a Chicana Role Model by Michele Serros.
The Big Deal won the 2011 Imagen Award for best Theatrical Short.
Lucy is working on pre-production on her next two shorts; Alone and The Brown Widow. She is developing her feature film.
Lucy is a fellow of Film Independent’s Project:Involve – a practical training and mentoring program that pairs 40 emerging filmmakers per year with mentors in all areas of filmmaking.
